Attorney Admission

Information on Admission to Practice in the
United States District Court for the Eastern District of California

NOTE:  This information pertains to attorneys not yet admitted in the Eastern District of California.

To practice in the Eastern District of California an attorney must be a member in good standing of the California State Bar.

Effective July 6, 2021, The Eastern District of California transitioned to NextGen CM/ECF. All Attorney Admissions are now processed through PACER at www.pacer.gov .

The previous paper Petition Form is no longer used.

You will need an upgraded PACER account; you may accomplish that on www.pacer.gov and you can contact them directly if you need assistance.

Once an individual PACER account has been obtained, visit PACER and select:

Manage My Account -> Maintenance -> Attorney Admissions/E-File Registration.

After submitting your Attorney Admission Request, the court will review and process, you will then receive an email from the court requesting the $225 payment. Please do not submit payment until you are directed by the court.

Please visit PACER NextGen for additional information.
