Jurors who fail to report for jury duty and who are not excused by the court may be served with an Order To Show Cause by the U.S. Marshal Service. Those jurors may be ordered to appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge to show cause why they should not be held in contempt of the Jury Service and Selection Act. Contempt penalties include being fined not more than $1000, imprisoned not more than three days, ordered to perform community service, or any combination thereof. (Title 28 U.S.C. § 1866)
